EVE Online is a science fiction MMORPG from CCP Games, launched in 2003. Unlike most MMOs, which split locations into separate “instances” to manage load, each location in EVE is a single server with potentially thousands of players. This talk will discuss how CCP Games accomplished this in 2003, and explore the game’s architecture as it has evolved over time.
